Hosting The Homeless

We will again be a host site for the Brewster Emergency Shelter Partnership (BESP). This is an ecumenical coalition of Brewster area congregations that provides a safe, warm sleeping place for those in need during the coldest nights of the winter.

Our congregation will host during the weeks of:

12/19/11 - 12/25/11

01/16/12 - 01/22/12

02/27/12 - 03/04/12

03/19/12 - 03/25/12

There are several opportunities to serve each night listed below. Individuals or groups can sign up for each slot. Please include your name and phone number so you can be contacted with any change or a reminder.

Cook - prepare a one or two pot meal for up to 16 people. Arrive by 8:30 pm with warm meal.

Server - serve dinner to guests, clean dishes after serving. Arrive by 8:30 pm. Leave by 10:00 pm.

Overnight Host - sleep overnight and oversee light breakfast and clean up in morning. Arrive by 8:30 pm leave by 6:00 am.

Laundry Help - pick up towels used previous night, launder and return to Christian Center that day.

Assistant Coordinator - Share nightly oversight of opening the room, assisting cook or server as needed, confirming with Supervisor all is running smoothly. Arrive by 8:30 pm.
